Ms. Dunn

I graduated from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas in 1996 with a B.A. in psychology.  Immediately upon graduating, I was offered a postition with Mansfield Independent School District working as a paraprofessional with our special needs students.  At that time, I was planning on going back to school in order to receive a masters degree in the area of criminal psychology; however, I truly enjoyed working with the students.  I made the decision to go back to school and become certified to teach.  I did this while working as a paraprofessional for the district.  I received teaching certificates in both general education grades K-8 and also in special education grades K-12.  This is my 19th year with the district.  I have taught resource language arts, SUCCESS, and co-teach language arts for both 5th and 6th graders.  I was the special education department chair for 3 years.  I passed the torch on to Mrs. Donna Jackson who graciously accepted the title.  The main reason I stepped down as department chair was due to my own children at home. The position required a lot of extra time which was very difficult seeing that I had little ones who equally needed my time.  I am now a mentor to new teachers at our school that are in the same field.  Currently, I work as a co-teacher for both 5th and 6th graders in the academic area of language arts.  I am truly thankful to be working alongside some amazing teachers.

I have two children of my own.  I have a son in 9th grade at Legacy High School, and I have a daughter in 5th grade right here at Donna Shepard Intermediate.

I am also a mom to a dog and two mischevious cats.
